Suttle Projects has successfully completed phase two of the works at the River Hamble Harbour Master’s Office, continuing our mission to combine practical engineering solutions with environmental enhancement.
Restoring a Vital Seawall
The seawall had suffered years of exposure to the elements, leaving it worn and in need of repair. Suttle Projects undertook a comprehensive refurbishment, strengthening the structure while incorporating innovative design elements to support local marine ecosystems.
Enhancing Biodiversity with a Cast Concrete Rock Face
As part of the refurbishment, a cast concrete face was added that mimics a natural rock formation. This textured design creates pockets and surfaces ideal for marine organisms, helping to encourage biodiversity and support marine growth.
Following the completion of phase one, Engineer Nick Olds revisited the site and observed the encouraging early results: the artificial rock face was already supporting marine life, and the seawall surface had begun to go green, showing that the textured wall and rock pool features were effectively promoting marine growth.
