A business built on
solid foundations
Suttle PIling is part of the Suttle Group of companies that includes Suttle Projects, our civil engineering arm, and Suttle Stone Quarries, which can trace its roots back to the 1930’s
With over 20 years’ experience, we are members of the Federation of Piling Specialists and can deliver all types of piling using our own fleet of excavators and piling rigs.
Using in-house design and geotechnical expertise we undertake complex and technically challenging projects for Tier 1 contractors. Our range of specialist rigs allows us to work safely in small, hard to access sites, on difficult terrains and alongside live railways.
An independent, family run business
As an independent, family run business, we have been able to keep our business focus on people, not profits. Nurturing long-term customer relationships through simplified project delivery, excellent communications and an uncompromising approach to quality and service.
These qualities encapsulate our Projects: simplified approach to business, which consistently delivers excellent outcomes for our customers.
The Suttle Piling team includes an experienced design department backed by chartered engineers and an ICE graduate training scheme. Our work is supported by self-delivery capabilities including an extensive plant fleet and in-house piling capability – bringing greater certainty to project outcomes.
As a business that is still extensively family-owned and rooted in the local community we have lived and worked in for many generations, we’re committed to improving communities and environments where we work.
Our capabilities
Rotary bored piling has the advantage of creating large diameter piles that can bear substantial loads – even on soft, compressible soils. It’s used increasingly for major infrastructure projects such as bridges because of the flexibility it offers in terms of the diameter and depth of the piles.
Rotary bored piling causes much less disturbance and vibration than driven piles and provides excellent control over performance and load-bearing capacity.
Suttle Piling also has extensive experience with CFA piling, which is generally preferred to driven piles in built-up areas.
Driven piling methods are usually deployed in specific technically-demanding locations and circumstances. These include coastal and marine locations, landslips or where groundwater or water courses need to be managed.
Suttle Piling specialises in sheet piling – which we’ve been doing since 2008 – as well as timber, steel or reinforced concrete piles.
Investing in skills
Suttle Piling believes that investing in skills is the best way to secure our future.
We run an apprenticeship programme and all staff have personal development plans. We also run the ICE development programme in collaboration with the University of Bath.
Integrity and reliability are key qualities displayed by all team members. We deliver fully compliant projects, on time and for the agreed price.
Sustainability
Suttle Piling takes active steps to minimise our environmental impact through habitat protection, restorative planting, and enhancing biodiversity in the sites where we work. We are experienced in working within SSSI impact zones while minimising disruption and environmental risks.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by switching to electric vehicles and renewable energy. Leaving a positive legacy is a key part of our company ethos. We have a long history of engaging with communities and education providers to deliver social value.
Our accreditations:
Suttles hold a range of industry accreditations which can be provided to give Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Social assurance. We are committed to the standards we have achieved and the continual improvement of our company culture and processes.
