Suttle Projects has kicked off 2024 with a series of interesting and challenging piling projects, demonstrating both our technical expertise and versatility.
Innovative Solutions in Biggleswade
One of our standout projects was in Biggleswade, where a client required a piling rig capable of being lifted over a railway line to install sheet piles on the opposite side.
For this task, we supplied our Volvo EC130EL with Movax attachment, along with a skilled operator. Due to the unusual access requirements, Suttle Piling was one of the few, if not the only, providers able to deliver a solution that met the client’s needs.
This project highlighted our ability to adapt equipment and techniques to challenging conditions, ensuring work could be completed safely and efficiently even in complex sites.
West Bay
Closer to the coast, our team has been busy at West Bay Harbour, installing 35 metres of sheet piling to stabilise the harbour wall for Dorset Council. Working in and around water is a specialty for Suttle Projects and Suttle Piling, and this project showcased our ability to operate in tidal environments. To complete the installation, the piling rig needed to be positioned on a barge to access the wall safely. Thanks to the skill and experience of our teams, particularly our operator, who made the operation look effortless, the work was completed smoothly despite the challenging conditions.
Ongoing Projects and Blockades
Beyond these works and our many other sites, our teams have remained consistently engaged at HS2, providing essential piling works across multiple sites. Additionally, over the Easter weekend, we completed a 4-day railway blockade, demonstrating our ability to manage intensive, time-sensitive projects with precision and safety.
