Connecting with the Community and Stakeholders: New QR Code Initiative

At Suttles, we understand that civil engineering projects don’t exist in isolation. Many of our sites are located in areas that attract interest not only from stakeholders, but also from the general public. Keeping communities informed about ongoing works is just as important as ensuring the projects themselves are delivered safely and efficiently.

To enhance communication, we recently launched our QR Code Initiative, a simple yet effective way to share project information directly with anyone passing by our sites.

How our QR Code Boards Work

Each of our sites now features information boards along its boundaries, prominently displaying a scannable QR code. Using a smartphone, members of the public can quickly access:

  • A summary of the work being carried out.
  • Contact information for the head office.
  • Details of the site manager for any project-specific enquiries.

The QR codes allow us to provide relevant, up-to-date information without cluttering the site or disrupting operations. Each code can link to tailored content based on the project and location, helping the public understand what’s happening in their community.

Benefits for Stakeholders and the Public

Civil engineering  and piling sites can be complex and sometimes disruptive. By providing clear information through QR codes, we:

  • Increase transparency, helping residents and visitors understand the purpose, scale, and timeline of works.
  • Encourage engagement, allowing stakeholders and the public to raise questions or concerns quickly and easily.
  • Demonstrate responsibility, showing that we take our community obligations seriously while maintaining site safety and productivity.

Adapting Technology for Construction

This initiative highlights how simple digital solutions can make a big impact. QR codes are scannable on any smartphone, making them accessible to a wide audience. They provide flexibility, allowing us to update content or provide links to additional resources as needed. We always include a phone number to ensure we do not exclude anyone without a smart phone.

In an era where people increasingly expect information at their fingertips, initiatives like this help construction companies maintain trust and transparency with the communities they serve.

Building Relationships Beyond the Site

Our QR Code Initiative isn’t just about information, it’s about building stronger relationships. Engaging with the public in a clear and professional way reinforces our commitment to:

  • Safe and responsible construction.
  • Open communication with local communities.
  • Maintaining stakeholder confidence throughout project delivery.

By combining effective on-site communication with modern technology, we are helping our projects run smoothly while keeping the public informed every step of the way.
